My next task was to start covering the aluminium panels with vinyl.
I commandeered the kitchen table, and set to work on the scuttle. The scuttle is probably the most complex of the panels to cover, but it is not as big as the side panels, and I need it on the car so that I can carry on with the final fit of the brake pipes.
The application of the vinyl went reasonably OK, and it involved lots of fairy liquid, a squeegee, and the wife’s hair dryer (she doesn’t know). After an hour or so, and one failed attempt, I had completed The finished scuttle the panel.
It’s not paint-level quality in terms of finish, but I am quite happy with it – I would give myself 8 out of 10 for that job!
